In an installment of Randall Museum's Amateur Astronomers Lecture Series, David Blake of the NASA Ames Research Center will discuss the CheMin (science talk for "chemistry and mineralogy") instrument mounted on the Mars rover Curiosity during its exploration of Mars. The X-ray diffracting instrument is responsible for bringing us information about Martian soil and rock for the first time. Blake will recount the quarter-decade-long development of CheMin, especially the discovery of the first habitable environment of the Red Planet. CheMin early for the best seats!
