Crime of Convenience

Perhaps aware how inconvenient Muni is, 25-year-old Ariana Bolmer opted to take a cab to hold up a San Francisco 7-Eleven in Visitacion Valley last week, police said. The ballsy woman had her taxi wait while she "shopped" at her convenience. When police caught up to the cabbie, he said he had no clue his fare was purportedly up to no good. The cops moved Bolmer from the cab to the patrol car, where she received a free ride to jail.

Snail Facials: Cosmetic or Crazy?

Over in Japan, consumers have latched on to a new trend called snail facials, which are exactly what they sound like: Slimy Molluscs crawling on your face. Right now, it's all the rage in Asia, but seeing as how Americans are completely obsessed with themselves, beauty experts expect the mucous-y facials to become popular here very soon. Local beauty buff and plastic surgeon Edward Miranda says snail slime is thought to help cosmetically by coating the skin with antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and proteins — all of which are proven to reduce visible signs of aging and nourish the skin. And hey, it's still a little less gross than leeches.

'GoCars' Go on the Freeway

This is what happens when you don't help a tourist out. Last week, a convoy of the yellow, three-wheeled tourist vehicles known as "GoCars" found their way onto the western span of the Bay Bridge, ending up on Treasure Island — as well as on YouTube. "I think they accidentally got on the on-ramp — and once you're on the on-ramp, you're funneled onto the freeway," explained Nathan Withrington, the company founder. "They left the tour. And once you leave the tour, you're on your own." Until the CHP gets involved, that is.
