High fidel-ity

Cristina García presents a portrait of Cuba through the lives of a fictionalized Fidel Castro and an octogenarian exile living in Miami who seeks revenge against the dictator. Maneuvering between the lives of these two men — and factions of Cuba — with humor and great passion for her native land, the author of National Book Award finalist Dreaming in Cuban celebrates the launch of King of Cuba as part of Litquake's monthly Epicenter series. In conversation with García will be Oscar Villalon, the erudite and personable managing editor of ZYZZYVA. Given the broad scope of King of Cuba, topics may include everything from revolution to personal redemption, history to the import of modern politics. This is the sixth novel by García, who is widely considered one of the pre-eminent writers of U.S. Latino literature.
