The Brow-ometer: Our Culture, Rated

With all this loose talk about what makes for "highbrow" art and what makes for "lowbrow" art, we figured we'd make it as scientific as possible and establish just where exactly these artistic categories fall in relation to one another. To wit: The "Brow-ometer," an assessment of what makes for lofty and vulgar art here in our culture. We polled our writers and critics and asked them to rate each of these artistic categories as impulsively as they could, and now, for the first time ever, we have ten thousand years of human expression distilled into a convenient chart. Cut it out, stick it in your pocket, and use it when conversating with friend, lover, boss, hoodlum, or foreign dignitary.

Interestingly enough, Spoke Art Gallery on Sutter Street has an exhibit this month dedicated entirely to cats, entitled "Meow Brow" - http://spoke-art.com

I can't believe Street Art would be low brow when you have artist like Shepard Fairey at the Tate Modern

Can't believe you guys left EndGames Improv out of this. If you want to see the forefront of SF improv and SF comedy, you can't omit them.
