Jonathan Lethem and Daniel Handler are extraordinarily peculiar human beings and members of the contemporary author super-league that's devoted to writing smart, engaging books and making writers obviously cooler than all other humanoids. Handler can't help but be funny, even when he's not trying; he's the perfect complement to Lethem, who might be the only one with wits quick enough to keep Handler on his toes. Lethem's new novel Dissident Gardens is just out in paperback, so they'll probably talk about that for a while. But there's no telling what all they'll cover, as Lethem's a bona fide expert on popular culture: two recent examples include a small book about The Talking Heads' Fear of Music (2012) and the mammoth The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick (2011), which he co-edited. Consider this a limited time, two-for-the-price-of-free-type deal.
