Recent Openers October 23-29, 2013

Fog City: The former Fog City Diner, an Embarcadero classic since 1985, has reopened after remodeling. The new menu from chef Bruce Hill (Zero Zero, Bix) is centered around the restaurant's wood-fired grill and oven. 1300 Battery, 982-2000.

Cellarmaker Brewing Company: SoMa's got a brand new 10-barrel brewhouse run by alums of Marin Brewing Company. Sour beers will be front and center, though they'll also be pouring an IPA, pale ale, and porter. No kitchen, but there are plans to have food trucks. 1150 Howard, 863-3940, cellarmakerbrewing.com.

Proposition Chicken: The mid-Market space carries a voting-theme where customers can appoint whether they'd like their bird fried, flipped (roasted), or fake (crispy BBQ tofu), as well as if they want it served in a sandwich, over a salad, or as an entree with a spicy slaw and a buttermilk biscuit. 1750 Market, 864-2454, propositionchicken.com.

Tosca Cafe: The much-anticipated revamp of the North Beach classic is complete, courtesy of celebrated New York chef April Bloomfield and biz partner Ken Friedman. Expect Bloomfield's signature classic pub grub with an Italian bent, with menu items like crispy pig tails, bucatini with guanciale, and roasted chicken for two with ricotta and marsala sauce. 242 Columbus, 986-9651, ToscaCafeSF.com.
