Guddu de Karahi: Zulfiqar "Guddu" Haider, former owner of Lahore Karahi in the Tenderloin, has opened up a new Pakistani-Indian restaurant in the Outer Sunset. Haider's popular dishes include tandoori fish, lamb vindaloo, and kebabs. 1501 Noriega, 759-9088.

Little Bee Baking: Chez Panisse alum Stacie Pierce brings a family-friendly bake shop to Bernal Heights. Customers can choose from seasonal fruit pies, tarts, cookies, and Four Barrel coffee. Custom cakes and desserts for special occasions are available per request. 521 Cortland.

Proposition Chicken: The mid-Market space carries a voting-theme where customers can choose whether they'd like their bird fried, flipped (roasted), or fake (crispy BBQ tofu), as well as if they want it served in a sandwich, over a salad, or as an entree with a spicy slaw and a buttermilk biscuit. 1750 Market, 864-2454, propositionchicken.com.

Tosca Cafe: The much-anticipated revamp of the North Beach classic is complete, courtesy of celebrated New York chef April Bloomfield and biz partner Ken Friedman. Umami Burger: The L.A. burger chain's expansion into the Bay Area continues in the Mission Bay. It hosts classics like the foundational Umami Burger (topped with shiitake mushrooms, caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes, Parmesan crisp, and umami ketchup).
