Holiday Hurrah

It's the day after Christmas and the Christmas tree hasn't started dropping its needles yet, and there's no way you're taking those lights down because you nearly fell out the window trying to make sure that "Joy to the World" came out in nice script with all the letters facing forward. The shops are all trying to preserve the momentum of the pre-Christmas fervor with post-Christmas discounts and the pointed observance of Boxing Day, a holiday defunct of meaning to those who don't have butlers or stableboys, before the honest commitment of resolutions and the products that will enable us to break them. Because Christmas is pretty much an American capitalist extravaganza, it can't be wrong to celebrate the season with the last hurrah of Smuin Ballet's The Christmas Ballet at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, with choreography by Michael Smuin, Val Caniparoli, Amy Seiwert, and Robert Dekkers and music from Mozart to Elvis.
