Doe Eye with DRMS and the She's. 8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, at Great American Music Hall. $13; slimspresents.com.
With all the raw, blistered drums and bass fuzz of a late-'90s MoWax production, Doe Eye's debut album, T E L E V I S I O N, kicks off like the Kool-Aid man crashing through a brick wall. Over the next 36 minutes, San Francisco's own Maryam Qudus keeps pouring on the sweet stuff — honeyed vocals, reverbed melodies — over oftentimes wavy, jarring production that's equally at home in the coffeehouse and the punkhouse. Live and on stage, Qudus cuts a Clara Bow figure while entrancing a room, and she returns to the city this week to finish a nationwide tour accompanied by her new album's steady and worthy climb up the college charts.
