All of us love to complain about San Francisco from time to time. The rents are too high. Muni is always late. There's nowhere to park. But for all the gripes about our city, this is our city — a unique and wonderful mix of sophistication and weirdness.

This year for our Best Of San Francisco issue, we've asked local artists and notable personalities to share with us what makes this city such a special place to live: what inspires them, what infuriates them, and what keeps them coming back for more. San Francisco may drive us crazy, but can you imagine living anywhere else? We can't. We bet you can't either.
