Best Argument for Reincarnation - 2000
When the old Bruno's on Mission, built in the '40s but sitting empty and forlorn for decades, opened its doors, it ushered in a whole new era for the San Francisco scene. Swing and jazz and supper clubs and big plush booths all became hot again, and Bruno's was the molten center of the scene. Well, the flame burned bright but finally fizzled, and Bruno's was shut down. But, like John Travolta in Pulp Fiction, or little Ricky Schroder on NYPD Blue, Bruno's will get a second (or third) chance: Look for the new and improved restaurant and club to open in June.
