Taqueria La Cumbre
It's impossible to stroll through the Mission without tripping over a burrito, which isn't surprising, since the Mission is widely regarded as the center of the burrito universe. Some are good, some are great, and some are just plain huge, as is the case with the super-deluxe burrito at Taqueria La Cumbre. For a whopping $6.75 (high by Mission standards) you get what can only be described as a beast -- beans, rice, tomato, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and a double portion of meat, the whole, wonderful mess rolled into a steamed tortilla that seems one grain of rice away from exploding. It lacks the wonderful interplay of textures found in the Taqueria Can-Cun burrito, and doesn't nearly equal the clean pork savor of the carnitas burrito from La Taqueria. But the thing about this monster is that, when you're hungry, it's bigger than both of them put together.
