Battambang
The extraordinarily sophisticated cuisine served at this small, clean, unprepossessing storefront around the corner from Oakland's Chinatown belies its setting: Battambang is a real find. Everything we've tried is so exciting, so memorable, that we're torn between repeating a favorite dish (somlaw ktiss, a soup of fresh pineapple and sweet basil in red lemon grass and coconut milk broth; saramann, a beef, green bean, and yam curry; grilled lamb chops; creamy jackfruit custard) and choosing at random from the dozens of other dishes available on our frequent visits. So we do both. As long as they're willing to wrap up our leftovers, we don't consider overordering to be a problem.
