"Cheap Trick" at the Stud
The Pilsner is too homey and "'Til Friday" is all drag. So roguish boys who thrive on the joys of noncommitment should check out "Cheap Trick," billed as an "Electro, Rock, Funk, Old-School Pop Party." "Cheap Trick" proprietors Gary Green and Jeff Chandler (who also acts as DJ) have made it their business since '97 to offer partygoers a sense of community with such contributions as the "Love Haight Lounge" and "Reform Skool," not to mention the now-defunct "Earth," "Star 69," and "Zodiac." Their efforts have paid off with a dedicated following, many of whom they know by name. Some bravely start off with "Love Haight Lounge" on Wednesday at Trax, carry on to "Reform Skool" Thursday at the Stud, and hit "Cheap Trick" on Friday from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Many others catch at least an evening of the three. With experienced hosts and beautiful boys, "Cheap Trick" threatens to make us one, too.
