Reluctant grown-ups Jamie Atherton and Jeremy Lin -- known together as the Jimmys -- founded "After School Special" not only to satisfy a nostalgia fix, but also to find inspiration in kid-centric flicks like The Goonies, Times Square, and Over the Edge. The monthly film series has turned into a sure thing, with DJs spinning unironic selections from the early '80s and over-21 viewers squeezing into the club like kids in the candy store. The dot-com boom-and-bust may have taught San Franciscans that growing up is hard to do; one Tuesday a month, the Jimmys prove you don't have to.
