We've often picked out a bagful of nice-looking pastries in Mexican bakeries and been sadly disappointed when we got them home and they tasted like dust (or worse, margarine). Not so at Panaderia La Mexicana, where the window display of miniature poundcakes, palmiers, and fanciful pan dulce shaped like shells, shoes, and turtles tempts you with a promise sweetly fulfilled.
