Thee Parkside
Many locals complain that our music scene has a lot of bands and a lot of fans but very little community. That's not the case at Thee Parkside, where, as its Web site boasts, "the staff drinks right along with you." As many who've been to Thee Parkside's budget rock Fridays can attest, this place is one of the coolest, cheapest, most hospitable spots to catch garage, punk, and country-fried rock in town. What you may not know is that it's also a great place to eat a yak burger (yes, you read that right) on a Sunday afternoon, or toss back some bear-meat chili, or win a pingpong contest, or just get involved with owner Sean O'Connor's many wacky extracurricular activities, typically held during weekend days, especially during the summer, when Thee Parkside's spacious outdoor patio turns into a veritable Elks Lodge for music, beer, and meat-eating.
