These days the Empress of China bar on Grant Avenue is run-down and underappreciated, but the gallery of celebrity photos in the lobby (along with the '70s-chic restaurant) proves that it was once a local hot spot. The bar still has swanky velvet seating, a killer view of Chinatown, and yummy coconut-milk drinks with pineapple spears and such, and there's always a spot to sit and appreciate the bustling crowds below.
