Bluegrass: It's not just for old fogies anymore. At Amnesia on Monday nights the crowd is surprisingly youthful and completely berserk for fiddles, banjos, and four-part hillbilly vocal harmonies. From virtuoso mandolin pickers to front-porch types banging out moonshine-inspired standards like "Dueling Banjos," the evening is reliably booked with enjoyable acts. Call the genre "newgrass" if you must, but the dark bar's chosen acts tend to be rabid traditionalists rather than Grateful Dead-inspired noodlers. Stay late enough and you may hear the charming barkeep and a few friends lifting their pretty voices to accompany Doyle Lawson on the CD player.
