Midnight movie screenings are a great place to catch films that were either panned by critics or ignored by audiences (such as The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Donnie Darko, respectively) on their first releases. With their long-running summer series "Midnight Mass," "Trannyshack" regular Peaches Christ and her sidekick, Martiny, have taken the late-night cult flick presentation and turned it into performance art. Held (usually) at the Bridge Theatre, this annual festival, which starts July 1 this year, draws a heavy (and heavily inebriated) crowd. People swarm to "Mass" not only to watch their favorite camp classics on the big screen -- Evil Dead 2, Purple Rain, Mommie Dearest, The Bad Seed -- but also because of the production that prefaces each screening. Peaches and Martiny's far-fetched and hilarious pre-show can involve anything from lip-syncing to lap dances. Like any holy Mass, "MM" has many devoted followers, so get your tickets early.
