Supper Clubs

Two-in-one combos are nice: peanut butter and chocolate, vodka and Red Bull, KFC and Taco Bell. But the best amalgam of two great things currently gaining momentum in San Francisco is the rise of the supper club, which unites food and dancing to fantastic effect. Popular in the 1940s and '50s, supper clubs are making a comeback in the form of places like Levende Lounge, Lime, and Myth, which offer tasty bites of well-prepared fare in an attractive setting. Then, after digesting your meal and partaking in sparkling conversation with your terribly witty friends, you can stay and dance to DJ beats, scrutinize the social scene, and possibly meet that special someone -- just as you would at any number of nightclubs throughout the city. But you'll have to catch the trend before it becomes too exclusive: Lime has already started putting a velvet rope outside its doors on Friday and Saturday nights.
