Glenn Donaldson

In this digital age of hyper-specialization when most artists possess nothing more than a single trick up their sleeves, Glenn Donaldson is a true anomaly — a chameleonlike musician from the Mission District crafting folk rock, improvisational noise, punk, indie pop, and industrial, all while maintaining two small yet productive imprints, Jewelled Antler and Pink Skulls. For all you crustie-punks, the name of one of Donaldson's outfits, Teenage Panzerkorps, should be graffiti'd across your smelly, old leather jackets, because it delivers raw, Teutonic-tainted hardcore. But if getting stoned-mellow is your bag, then hunt down a release or two by another Donaldson venture, the Skygreen Leopards; their rural jangle would have wowed the Marin heads back in '70 and '71. Then again, Donaldson also morphs into a third-eye drone freak when jamming with Thuja, the Franciscan Hobbies, and Blithe Sons. But wait, there's more: Next time you're feeling fragile, listen to the Ivytree's Winged Leaves disc; Donaldson's falsetto will make you weep. We're telling you; Glenn does it all.
