DeLessio Market & Bakery defies expectations. Its salad bar and hot-food buffet table are laden with multiple temptations, always appetizing, neat, and fresh. The salad bar features in addition to expected salad-bar items such as hard-boiled eggs, potato salad, and coleslaw inventive salads based on broccoli, cauliflower, cold grilled Thai chicken, and an assortment of fancy olives. The hot food always includes DeLessio's signature meatloaf; oven-roasted, brined pork loin; its rich "ultimate potato gratin"; russet potatoes adorned with scallions, sour cream, and cheddar cheese; and a macaroni and cheese made with provolone, cheddar, Parmesan, and mozzarella. There are baskets of premade, wrapped sandwiches tucked near a counter at which you can order panini grilled to order, including an excellent Cubano. The bakery part of DeLessio's name is represented by enticing items such as an upside-down pear-caramel tart, a custardy croissant-and-brioche bread pudding, meringue-topped tres leches cake, and an array of beautifully decorated and irresistible miniature cupcakes. Don't miss the house-made chocolates. You can eat here, assemble a perfect picnic, or drag everything back to your cave.
