The Amazing Embarrassonics
It's a little hard to explain why it's so much more fun to sing with a live band than a recording. Wait, no it isn't. Normal karaoke is a good time, but local secret the Amazing Embarrassonics ups the ante as a full rock band that knows 500 songs and will hand you a book with the lyrics. The thing that's hard to explain, really, is why anyone would do such a thing. We have to assume there's a coded answer in the group's name, something about the singer's humiliation being the payoff for the performers. All the more reason to participate! You'll pay a cover to get in, and maybe you'll wonder why you're paying for karaoke. It's a valid question, but the AEs are not just some silly bar band. A commonly overheard exclamation at the once-every-other-month shows is "Hey, wait — these guys are good! I don't get it. Why are they doing karaoke? Omigod, sign me up."
