Best New "It" Neighborhood

Divisadero between Haight and McAllister
San Francisco, CA
People who haven't lived in San Francisco for a few years will raise their eyebrows and make their eyes all big and say, "oooh," if you tell them you live in the area historically known as the Western Addition. What they don't know (and let's try to keep it our secret), is that the area north of the panhandle (NOPA) along Divisadero is San Francisco's up-and-comin'-est new 'hood. It's no longer a place where shoving to get to the front of the line at Popeye's might get you shot. While the Ethiopian bar/restaurant Waizema has been a groovy, red-carpeted classic since Tina and Ike hung out there in the 1970s, new bastions of cool like late-night restaurant NOPA, Bar 821, Little Star Pizza, and Tsunami sushi (complete with a resident sake god JoJo) make the Western Addition an excellent place to while away an evening.
