The Bay Area has one of the most ardent martial arts communities in the country, so there's a legitimate need for a great shop that carries everything from truncheons to butterfly swords for those who have the right skill to use them. Named after the late gentleman who opened the store almost 30 years ago, a Kung-Fu Hall of Famer best known for practicing the Seven Star Praying Mantis form of the art, Brendan Lai's Supply Co. has most of what a budding ninja warrior's heart desires. Not only can you be outfitted with all of the proper clothing and weapons, but there's also a selection of books for home education and bruise medicines for boo-boos. We admit that we're sometimes a little bit creeped out by its Mission District location, but feel secure that not much ends up into the hands of deviant non-ninjas.
