One Polk Street resident, a restaurant busser by night, spends his afternoons shopping at the numerous second-hand stores on Polk between Sutter and California. After he finishes his shift, he changes into the pink frilly miniskirts and other bedazzled clothing items and hits the streets to meet fellas. Upon walking by the Fernet-slinging watering hole the R Bar, he points up the corner toward Jones Street. "That's where I like to meet my boys," he says coyly. "They wear nice shirts in this neighborhood."
