People love artist Jay Howell for two main and pretty much indistinguishable reasons: his boner imagery and his seventh-grade sense of humor. Both are displayed in this lanky pen-and-ink doodler's hilarious publications. From Punks Git Cut to Dogs and Dog Information, his deceptively simple illustrations of hairy mammals and hairier hippies are always hilarious. But the guy has outdone himself with the release of Let Me Tell You Where/Where Not to Stick It, a gut-busting collaboration with Audrey Erickson illustrating sad sacks and happy flashers who've inserted their privates in places ranging from a bag of newly born bunnies (good!) to a bucket of nails (bad!). An added bonus to Jay's output: It's available through Mission art gallery/zine haven Needles & Pens (3253 16th St., 255-1534, www.needles-pens.com), an important outlet of DIY expression in its own right.
