Grand View Park
Twin Peaks has a fabulous view, but it can easily be tainted by tour buses and vans that are a-rockin', so you shouldn't come a-knockin'. In other words, people can just ruin it all sometimes — especially the ones who are trying to hawk Golden Gate Bridge T-shirts and snow globes. Grand View Park is the opposite of a convenient tourist destination — it's in the middle of the Sunset District, and sports some intimidating stairs that wouldn't be all that much fun for everyone. Upper thighs might get angry. But the relative amount of work required in reaching the little littered hump on top feels rewarding when its full 360-degree sights are visible. Truthfully, it isn't a particularly big area, yet Grand View Acre just doesn't have the same ring to it. But Turtle Hill, its unofficial longtime nickname, does.
