Imaginative and inventive ice cream flavors made from the finest ingredients are the irresistible draw at Humphry Slocombe, owned by Jake Godby, 15-year veteran of San Francisco's best restaurants (including Fifth Floor, Boulevard, and Coi) and proud bearer of ice-cream-cone tattoos. Ten or 12 flavors are on offer every day, chosen from a rotating list of more than 50, from the expected (chocolate, mint chip) to the exotic (balsamic caramel, Thai chile-lime sorbet) to the nearly unimaginable (Government Cheese, foie gras). Our favorite is Secret Breakfast, which combines the smoky tang of bourbon with the ineffable crunch of cornflakes.
