The First Church of the Last Laugh celebrates every April Fools' Day with the St. Stupid's Day Parade, in which people dress up in silly costumes and, well, louis vuittonact stupid. But it's all in the name of good fun.

Nopalito
Brought to you by the swell folks at the popular Mediterranean-themed Nopa, Nopalito has colonized a large room and an adjacent enclosed patio in Falletti's Plaza, the foodie enclave tucked between Oak and Fell on Broderick. It serves traditional Mexican food, including such succulent long-cooked dishes as birria de chivo (goat stew), mole poblano (a dark, rich, multi-ingredient sauce, here served over poached chicken), and pozole roja (a soupy stew featuring hominy and stewed pork shoulder), as well as the best carnitas ever. Interesting antojitos include a quesadilla con chicharrón stuffed with crispy pork belly, and a quesadilla de hongos y huitlacoche, a blue corn tortilla folded over mushrooms and corn "truffles." Organic ingredients are sourced locally whenever possible, and the chorizo, queso fresco, tortillas, and bread are made in-house. The signature dessert is the house-made paletas (popsicles), the star version being chocolate-cinnamon. The prices are surprisingly affordable for a brand-new restaurant with an organic, local, and sustainable kitchen. Nothing on the menu costs more than $20; antojitos run $4 to $9.50, big plates $10 to $14.
