Misión Flamenca
San Francisco has one of the top flamenco scenes in the country, and this monthly show in the Mission is the most exciting new offering. Fans often pack the place, so arrive early to get a seat right up next to the stage at the intimate venue. (Cover is $10 to $15.) Take in the rapid-fire footwork of Sandra Gabas, the hip soulfulness of Gina Giammanco, and the lithe grace of Lea Kobeli as they dance solos with live accompaniment from Spanish guitarists and singers. The three regulars invite a changing roster of guest artists from the Bay Area's flamenco ranks, and even let local aficionados try their hand at an impromptu bulería at the show's end. If you're looking for an affordable option to sate your appreciation for dance, this show is for you.
