Best Giant San Francisco 2010 - Pablo Sandoval

Readers' Choice: Tim Lincecum

Hope springs eternal that the Giants will win the National League West this season. And with the Giants' pitching staff, they may yet be able to do so with players like Aubrey Huff, Mark DeRosa, and Aaron Rowand sopping up key at-bats. Yet no one runs into the room to watch the television when one of the aforementioned quasisluggers comes up. You will for Pablo "Panda" Sandoval, a roly-poly, switch-hitting baseball savant who plays with the happiness everyone as remarkably talented as him ought to. You can crunch all the numbers — he hit .330 and popped 25 homers last year. But when it comes down to it, there are some players who are exciting and some who aren't. Some players make an entire barroom shut up and watch the game. Some players truly allow fans to vicariously feel joy. That's the Panda.
