Jet Martinez and Kelly Ording
For years, painter and muralist Jet Martinez has been making memorable work around San Francisco. That odd fuchsia scalloped pattern at 16th and Folsom streets? The rainbow-hued color on Community Thrift? Both Martinez. But one of the best things to come out of the S.F. Arts Commission's Storefronts project was work by Martinez and his wife, fellow artist Kelly Ording. It's common to see people linger outside the gorgeous facade of their faux-fortune-telling shop (Ms. Terioso) on 24th Street near Folsom, reading the fortunes taped to the window and appreciating the purple and orange hand-painted old-school serif lettering. In addition to this project, Martinez and Ording have done murals for SF Permaculture Group, an elementary school in Brazil, and a lovely painting, Sons of Satya, showing two loping elephants in Clarion Alley. We hope they team up again soon for more public paint jobs.
