Comments (1) Best Rap Ode to San Francisco - 2010
Napalm and Erruption feat. Gold Toes, "In San Francisco"
"San Francisco, man, I love this place, 'cause ain't nowhere like this place." The chorus to real-life cousins Erruption and Napalm's "In San Francisco" might not win any awards for intricate internal rhymes, but for a pure blast of chest-out, hometown pride, it's certified anthemic. Over a rousing, uptempo beat, the Mission District rappers run through a roll call of spots and streets, whether bragging about doing "100 miles an hour on the Bay Bridge" or boasting about "them Mission boys getting dough." Their ode to S.F. is then made visual by a video filled with an entourage sporting Giants and 49ers gear, shots of intersecting street signs (24th and York, Missouri and Mariposa), and nighttime footage with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background. It all adds up to a comprehensive tourist's guide through the eyes of local rappers.
