This is probably the most uneven and underwhelming French restaurant I've been to in California. I really wish I liked it, as it's so convenient. But every time I've been, I'm reminded not to return.

Le P'tit Laurent
Rain or shine, dinner reservations are a must at Le P'tit Laurent, a quaint little restaurant just a block from Glen Park BART station. Neighborhood residents flock to enjoy traditional French fare like moules frites or cassoulet in an intimate setting. But regulars know that the best deal is the unbeatable $22 prix-fixe dinner, available Sundays through Thursdays. This weekly-changing menu includes soup or salad, your choice from a pair of entrées, and your choice of dessert from the regular menu. Recent menus have featured a delicious cherry tomato salad and a creamy potato, carrot, and leek soup, while entrée choices like a yellowtail fillet and flank steak, both served with vegetables, won't leave you hungry. For dessert, the chocolate soufflé with coconut sorbet earns high marks, but you can't go wrong with crème brûlée, profiteroles, or pain perdu (French toast).
