Best Place To Feel Like You're Inside Instagram San Francisco 2013 - Scribe Winery's "Tasting Knoll"
Most wineries have tasting rooms, but Sonoma's Scribe Winery, run by handsome and charismatic brothers Andrew and Adam Mariani, doesn't have anything so pedestrian. You call ahead to make an appointment for the "tasting knoll" instead. The legend of the thirtysomething Mariani brothers precedes them: They live in a crumbling hacienda (formerly a hideout for bootleggers) on the property with a rotating cast of artist friends, and throw elaborate dinner parties that often involve produce from their garden and pizza made in their wood-fired oven. It sounds like a lot of hipster nonsense until you drive down the dirt road to the winery, past the stately palms that guard the entrance to the street, and realize that you could happily spend the rest of your life there. The hacienda is as picturesque as promised; the tasting knoll is dotted with old California oaks, some equipped with rustic swings, and offers a sweeping view of the vineyard with hazy mountains in the distance. Sign up for the wine club (excuse us, "Scribe Viticulturist Society") to be invited to quarterly "pick up" parties packed with beautiful boho-chic people, mismatched vintage water dispensers, and tables decorated with things like citrus fruit and wildflowers. You won't even need a filter to make all your followers jealous.
