Best Place to Get Lost San Francisco 2013 - Mile Rock Beach, Near Eagle's Point at Land's End(Trail begins at parking lot above Sutro Baths or near Legion of Honor)
El Camino Del Mar
San Francisco, CA 94125
It's easy to escape the urban hullabaloo. But with a little more effort on the Lands End hike – over 100 stairs, to be precise – it's possible to find a place where on a foggy day not even Marin County across the water can be seen from a stretch of sand tucked in between cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Perhaps you'll see a few fishermen above on Eagle's Point, or some hardy tourists perched on a massive rock overlooking a lonely stretch of ocean. This is the beach spot for reflection and contemplation, not bonfires and braggadocio, and the escape is worth the long climb back to reality.
