The Best Oscars-Watching Parties in San Francisco

Your invite to Vanity Fair‘s Oscar party must have gotten lost in the mail, but you’ve still got plenty of options right here in San Francisco for a glitzy, glam extravaganza for this Sunday night’s Academy Awards. We’ve listed the San Francisco Oscar-watching parties that will achieve the best original score, so bust out your ballgowns, bingo cards, and wrong envelopes for a fantastic faux-Hollywood Oscar night affair.

Academy of Friends: Under the Big Top
Don’t take it from us, take it from the golden Oscar statuette go-go boys seen above — the Academy of Friends Oscars viewing party is your most A-list, opulent option to watch Sunday night’s ceremonies. Tickets start at $300, but the ticket sales benefit HIV/AIDS organizations, it’s open bar with a feast of catered food curated by Tablehopper herself, and an afterparty featuring Polyglamorous.
5 p.m., City View at Metreon, tickets

An Intimate Evening with Oscar
Watch the Oscars from high atop Nob Hill at the Fairmont Hotel Penthouse Suite, with an exclusive menu by executive shelf Oscar Gonzalez. This a black-tie affair and tickets begin at $475, but proceeds go to the St. Francis Foundation.
5 p.m., Fairmont Hotel, tickets here

Funcheap’s 2018 Oscars Party: Oscar Bingo & Free Popcorn
Johnny Funcheap busts out the red carpet for a food truck rally at SOMA StrEat Food Park, with big screens, an Oscar betting pool, and a be-nign (get it?) game of Oscar bingo. Admission is free, and the bottomless champagne and mimosa deal is just $25
4 p.m., SOMA StrEat Food Park, free but RSVP required

Finn Town Presents ‘Funny, You Don’t Look a Day Over 89’
As the Academy Awards turn 90, the Castro’s new Finn Town turns to a special array of theme cocktails inspired by Sharon Stone, Benjamin Bratt, and Robin Williams.
4 p.m., Finn Town, free

Oscar Night at Gratta
Get your Lady Bird Out to Third Street (we stole that joke from them) at Gratta Wines, where Mistress of Ceremonies La Shariff presides over Academy Awards watching, a special Oscars wine pairing menu, and prizes for Best Dressed and Most Correct Ballot.
4 p.m., Gratta Wines, free

Oscars at the Balboa Theatre
The Richmond’s Balboa Theatre has been playing the Oscars on their big silver screen since Douglas Fairbanks was still sipping phosphates and spinning phonographs, and 2018 will be no exception. Howard the Duck and Nash Bridges star Reed Kirk Rahlman hosts, prizes and games are in effect all night, and the red carpet gets rolled out early so you can watch the stars’ fashionably early arrivals.
4 p.m., Balboa Theatre, tickets here

Oscars Party at the Knockout!
Your punk rock karaoke Oscars affair at the Knockout features KJ Omar as “your personal TiVo with Oscars trivia during the commercials,” with ballots and a grand prize for whomever knocks out the most correct predictions.
5 p.m., The Knockout!, free

Academy Awards Ceremony at the New Parkway Theater
Our honorable East Bay mention goes to Oakland’s New Parkway Theater, where the red carpet show and the Oscars ceremony get dressed up with all-you-can-eat appetizers and a cash bar.
4 p.m., New Parkway Theater, tickets
