Get to Know Daniel Baker, S.F.'s SYTYCD Contestant

We already told you that there was a local to root for this season on So You Think You Can Dance, a reality TV show in which dancers of all different backgrounds compete in various styles to win a cash prize and the title of “America's Favorite Dancer.” It's one of our top guilty pleasure shows (although we'll also tell you what we like about TV's latest dark horse, The Newsroom) so we're glad there's a hometown hero — it gives us one more excuse to watch! Today, we got the chance to get to know Daniel Baker a bit better.

Like most residents of San Francisco, Baker didn't grow up here. An Australian native, he's lived in the U.S. for nine years, and only recently relocated here to join the SF Ballet. Previously, he trained at the School of American Ballet and danced for the Miami City Ballet. When he was spotted performing in Berkeley, the SF Ballet snapped him up.
