Remember having your heart set on that goat butchery class at 18 Reasons, only to discover it sold out faster than a Justin Bieber stadium show? That might change later this year, when the two-year-old art-steeped community wing of Bi-Rite moves from its cramped storefront at 593 Guerrero to roomier quarters at 3674 18th Street (at Dolores). That's where Jivano's Cutlery once held court, practically in licking distance of freshly expanded Bi-Rite Creamery. In a press release, 18 Reasons suggested the new space would accommodate a wider range of events, with amenities that include “creature comforts that you've requested, like coat racks and better air circulation” ― no doubt air circulation is particularly important at butchery demos.
Construction has already begun; completion is expected by the end of the year. Meantime, classes and events will continue on at the Guerrero storefront, crappy air and all.
