Krystyl Baldwin has left the Silicon Valley startup world in order to launch a new dream of serving street food. Her idea is My Cupcake Truck, which would sell cupcakes with the icing amount controlled by the customer.
“Not just any cupcakes,” reads her pitch. “Cupcakes customizable to your liking!”
While this wouldn't be the first cupcake truck in San Francisco, the idea of giving orders a bespoke quality is a good one. The icing-to-cake proportions practiced by so many cupcakeries remains woefully out of balance; when the cupcake itself is great, there doesn't need to be a tower of frosting on top.
She's hoping to raise $15,000 via Kickstarter to help with the purchase and customization of her truck; with 12 days to go, she's raised over $4000 thus far. Donations of any amount are welcomed, but there are special incentives including future home or office delivery of cupcakes for those pledging $60 and up. She hopes for a September debut.
