Can Tech Tools Help Us Eat Better? Find Out at Free Ferry Building Event

Wikia and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales is at the helm of an all-day free food and tech event at the Ferry Building this Sunday. It'll seek to ask whether things like food blogs, websites, and smartphone apps can influence healthy food choices, with a panel discussion that includes Chow's Jane Goldman, Dr. Dean Ornish, and Humberto Kam of the Monterey Bay Aquarium scheduled to go off at 2 p.m. Food tastings are planned, with a list of chefs that includes Vincent Schofield of Darwin Café. The event is to promote the Wikia.com Healthy Recipes Wiki as well as an online recipe contest (you've got till Oct. 8 to proffer one of your own). Partners include Slow Food SF, the SF Food Bank, Glide, La Cocina, and forageSF.
