When SFoodie interviewed Laurine Wickett shortly after news of her departure from Top Chef Las Vegas, the Left Coast Catering owner mentioned that she'd started doing occasional pop-ups at Coffee Bar in Potrero Hill, which hosts a number of occasional restaurants. She's back there this weekend with a relatively inexpensive three-course prix-fixe dinner called “A Rustic Romantic Feast.”
Wickett sticks to her classic Cal-Ital style for the entrees ― a choice between braised short ribs with parsnip mash and broccoli di ciccio or a mushroom torta served with squash purée ― but she shows off a little of that cooking-competition flash in the appetizer, a cauliflower soup with smoked potatoes and truffle oil. You have to make reservations beforehand, but Coffee Bar just told SFoodie there are still spaces available in all seatings.
