Lucky You: Prophetic Eating For New Year's Day

Who needs New Years resolutions when you can just eat a meal that will bring fortune and prosperity? We're talking soul food here ya'll, and lots of it: Black-eyed peas and collard greens are purported to usher in a year of good luck — specifically because the black-eyed peas represent copper (pennies, get it?) and the collard greens stand in for (what else?) piles and piles of cold cash. Throw a little bacon in with those collard greens and you'll have a great, big (potentially profitable!) feast on your hands. (via Serious Eats)
