Munchies’ Cookbook Launch at Mister Jiu’s Is Quite the Party

Is there anything better than having multiple nationally recognized chefs cook for you in one night? Maybe an evening with four chefs in the kitchen, along with the release of a book that includes an illustration of April Bloomfield in the middle of a game of chicken-liver beer pong (whatever the hell that is).
This Monday, Nov. 13, Mister Jiu’s will play host to the San Francisco launch of the Munchies: Late-Night Meals from the World’s Best Chefs (Ten Speed Press), an event of such magnitude that Brandon Jew will make room in his kitchen for the inimitable Gabriela Cámara of Cala — which, along with Mister Jiu’s, was one of the three S.F. restaurants on Eater National’s Essential 38, and for Daniel Patterson. Guests will feast on recipes from rising star, former Lazy Bear pastry chef, and “pastry burlesque” party-thrower Maya Erickson, and from Nicole Krasinski and Stuart Brioza of State Bird Provisions.
The $60 admission includes a copy of the book — which sells for $30, don’t ya know — plus food, and an open bar. Five bucks of every ticket goes toward Farming Hope, a nonprofit that helps train unhoused San Franciscans in gardening, then uses the food they grow in cooking workshops. Tickets here.
