The Bay Bridge Bike Path Is Open, So Let’s Get an IPA

The Beer Beach (Peter Lawrence Kane)

The two-mile Bay Bridge bike path, extending from Oakland to Yerba Buena Island, opened on weekends from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., as of Oct. 23.

Woods Beer Co.’s Woods Island Club — home of the Beer Beach — also just so happens to be open only on weekends. So now its Island Club Sour, MateVeza IPA, and Ginger Pale Ale are all accessible to East Bay beer fans on two wheels.

So they made this cute video showing smiley millennials with fit quads biking over and pulling out some folding chairs to chill on the sand beneath the palm fronds.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that you can’t bike from Yerba Buena Island to Treasure Island — Hillcrest Road is too scary. (The SF Bike Coalition told KQED it’s “exceptionally hazardous: steep, poorly paved, lacking sidewalks and an artery for traffic heading to and from the bridge.”) So a shuttle service runs to ferry you to your final destination.

Drink up!
