CUESA's Fizz & Pop: Spring Cocktails of the Farmers Market
Of all the fun cocktail parties there are — to say nothing of the awful ones — perhaps nothing is so consistently well-planned as CUESA's seasonal soirees. On Wednesday, April 7, from 5:30-8 p.m., CUESA and the United States Bartenders Guild team up for Fizz and Pop, a gathering of more than 20 local bartenders and chefs on the second floor of the Ferry Building. You get three full-sized cocktails with your admission ($59-$67) — many of them made with spring berries and herbs — as mixologists from 15 Romolo, Alembic, Citizen Fox, Whitechapel, The Commissary and others join restaurants like The Vestry, DOSA, and The Market. All proceeds benefit CUESA (the Center for Urban Education About Sustainable Agriculture).
Neighbors Grumbling About a Russian Hill Cafe
At 1299 Pacific there's a cafe called Brew Bros that, according to Hoodline, is the focus of neighborhood ire as accusations swirl that the owner may have helped force out the previous, well-liked cafe, Chameleon. There seems to be no evidence for this, apart from the fact that the family of Brew Bros' proprietor once owned a business at the same address, 15 years ago.

The last time I had a Rich Table porcini doughnut was at Outside Lands when Evan and Sarah Rich were chucking them into the crowd while an unsmiling and seemingly gluten-free British DJ spinned. That was as fun as it was weird, but now you'll be able to get them (along with the raclette dipping sauce) on AT&T Park's Promenade Level, Section 114 during every home game. (Just don't take the ferry on opening day.)

The fast-growing Southern California chain Dog Haus has plenty of locations south of Grapevine, but as of April, it'll be in the East Bay, too. Of Dog Haus' eight varieties of hot dog, five come with bacon. Just sayin'.
Aatxe Turns One, Has Party
Aatxe (2174 Market), Chef Ryan Pollnow's award-winning Basque restaurant inside the Swedish-American Hall, is turning one and throwing a pintxo-and-tapas shindig on Sunday, April 10 from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $32.64 (or $35 at the door) and get you plenty of nibbles and cocktails, plus a portion of the proceeds goes to the SF-Marin Food Bank.

Foodie titan, Chez Panisse alum, SQUARE ONE chef-owner, California Cooking School founer, and cookbook author Joyce Goldstein will be signing copies of her newest book, The New Mediterranean Jewish Table, this Sunday, April 2 at the CUESA tent outside the Ferry Building — but only for a narrow window (10:30 – 11:15 a.m.).
