Bill Horst's bacony chips were on the verge of breaking out bigtime.

Wonder why you haven't seen Who's Your Daddy bacon potato chips at Pal's or Bi-Rite? Street-food vendor-turned entrepreneur Bill Horst told us that, after a back injury, his chip production has been “put on hold.”

Horst started hawking his bacon chips in Dolores Park last July. Within six months, Horst had gone legit, morphing from a home-based business in S.F. to one doing production out of a licensed kitchen. Who's Your Daddy chips were a favorite at Mission sandwich shop Pal's Takeaway, they were a runaway hit with nationwide buyers at online food marketplace Foodzie.com, and, in February of this year, Bi-Rite Market began stocking them. Who's Your Daddy was one of the first vendors in last summer's wave of new Mission food vendors to formalize.
