While Pizza Hut in the United States sucks for a variety of familiar reasons, not least of which is a woeful lack of variety when it comes to toppings, Japanese pizza lovers appear to be reaping the benefits (or possibly detriments) of Pizza Hut's creative exploration. The newest pizza experiment is called the Winter Double King ($32 for a large), and it comes fully loaded with a disorienting array of toppings including mayo, king crab, shrimp, egg, potato, broccoli and corn.
But that's not even the best part. According to this characteristically-awesome/insane Japanese TV commercial, the Winter Double King's biggest selling point is its crust: a bread wreath containing mayonnaise-filled shrimp, like little pigs-in-a-blanket. Somehow I feel like Pizza Hut is sticking Americans with the short end of the breadstick. (via Japan Probe)
